My heartfelt sympathies to you and you wife, Damien. Thank you for sharing this touching story. Best to you. Frederick

We still cry together. It seems to be worse for my wife. Silent sobbing is sensed. We have started a new routine of walking in the grounds of the park we live in. When we bump into people, we tell them the news. True kindness has been expressed and we feel a level of comfort. I see Custer in my mind's eye many times in the day. Time must have slowed because I keep thinking it was much longer since he passed away. As usual Frederick your words are well balanced and thoughtful. Thank you.
Sorry about your loss Damien. The best thing is to create a new set of memories with a new great pet.

Thank you for your condolences. We have said for some time now that we will not replace Custer. In any case he is not replaceable, he was unique. It remains to be seen whether we will hold to that idea. Our new life in France will make the process very difficult anyway. But, never say never. Thank you for your sentiments.
My daughter had to put down her Great Dane she had for many years. They become part of our families. Bless you
Sorry for your loss. I just post intel about our dog having a stroke. He is at the Vets at this time. We also lost a pet in 2004. Same as your precious pet he was dragging himself around. The only thing we could come up with is he lost his smell and would not eat. Dogs will not eat if they cannot smell. So Sorry
I'm so sorry for your loss. A good dog is never forgotten. You need to do what's best for you as far as whether or not to get another pet. But remember, if you choose another pet you won't be replacing Custer, you will just be enhancing your life with another love and providing for another pet who needs you.
