A spring break in France
By Damien Handslip of Flag Diesel
It is that time of year again when my wife and I take a trip down to our house in the far south of France. Business has been excellent this year with http://flag-diesel.rivousel.com making record sales in most months. Therefore as a reward we are taking a little 4 week break. The ferry trip has been spoilt this time by the fact that Speedferries has gone into administration. Boulogne would have better for us. So we have gone with P&O from Dover to Calais. We take a break near Limoges this year; normally we stop over at Orleans. Completing the trip on the second day we have a reasonable break. Then the “holiday” begins. First the garden needs tidying, and then we have to paint the shutters as the sun wreaks havoc with varnish. It’s expensive at £20 a tin of varnish! With what time we have left we go hunting for our favourite wine, usually having a degustation to help clean the palate. We bring quite a lot back home for friends and relatives. This year a “Tempete” (Hurricane) went through our region, knocking out power lines everywhere. The only damage we suffered was some bricks pulled out of our neighbours dividing wall. I was concerned that our tropical trees would have been affected, but they came through fine, even the Fig Tree. We are hoping to have an uneventful return trip.
